COMPASS is a tool born out of the idea that things in the office could be communicated more effectively and efficiently. This method is exposed to having errors and runs the risk of the final version of the spreadsheet being inaccurate or out of date. If this report was a widget on COMPASS, all users would see the same (and most up-to-date) information. If one person makes a change, it changes it on the server (and not as a file on their computer) which guarantees that you will never have an out of date version.
